• The risk of cancer in ulcerative colitis is related to the extent of mucosol involvement (More risk in pancolitis) and to the duration of the disease, Not in intensity of the inflammation Ca is more likely to occur in the part of colon where disease started in early life.

• Unfortunately, some childhood UC that become quiescent develop colon cancer in early life (adult)

• Cancer arise from dysplastic areas or it may arise in flat mucosal surface.
