Skin lesions are common in all of the following fungal diseases
A. Piedra.B. Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis.
C. Disseminated blastomycosis.
D. Disseminated candidliasis.
Answer. A. piedra.
Piedra is an infection of the hair that results in hair
breakage. It does not have skin lesions associated with it. Chronic
mucocutaneous candidiasis occurs in individuals who have an endocrine defect
that result (without treatment) in overwhelming cutaneous lesions and allergy
to Candida antigens. When Blastomyces disseminates, it
frequently disseminates to the skin or brain. Fungemias (Candida infections) may also lead to
maculonodular or maculopapular skin lesions.
