• Reticulocytes, Basophilic stippling, Howell jolly body and Cobot rings are seen by Romanowsky stain.
• This is a basic stain formulated from methylene blue and eosin.
• Romanowsky stain differentially stain leukocyte granules which aids in morphologic analysis of the cells. Thus, neutrophil granules are slightly basic and stain weakly with the azurophilic component.

• Heinz bodies are denatured haemoglobin which doesn’t stained with Romanowsky stain. Itis demonstrated by supra vital stains such as crystal violets.
