The most common deceleration pattern on periodic fetal heart rate monitoring during labour are:-
A Early decelerations
B. Late decelerations
C. Variable decelerations
D. Prolonged decelerations
Ans.
C. The
most common deceleration patterns
encountered during labour are variable decelerations attributed to umbilical
cord occlusion. These are defined as ‘visually
apparent abrupt decrease in rate’ significant variable deceleration are
those decreasing to less than 70 beats/min and lasting more than 60 sex. The early decelerations occurs because of
head compression and late deceleration because of uteroplacental insufficiency.
This system is based on timing of the deceleration in relation to contractions.
