Vacuum extraction (vantouse) has the theorectical advantages over
forceps. Which includes avoidance of insertion of space occupying steel blades
within the vagina, the ability to otate the fetal head without impinging upon
maternal soft tissues and less intracranial pressure duting traction. Thje
indications and prerequisite for use of vacuum extrations are same as for
forceps delivery. The relative contraindication are (1) face or other nonvertex
presentation (2) extreme premautrity (3) fetal coagulopthies (4) known
macrosomia (5) following recent scalp blood sampling.
