Composite Muscles | MCQs for MD MS Preparations

All are composite muscles except

A. Pectirieus
B. Flexor Carpi ulnaris
C. Biceps femoris
D. Flexor digitorum profundus

Ans. B. Flexor carpi ulnaris

Explanation:
*Flexor carpi ulnaris b.  is supplied by a single nerve and is not a composite/hybrid muscle.
Composite muscles have more than one set of fibres and are supplied usually by different nerves for different set of fibres.
*Pectineus a.  has anterior set of fibres supplied by the femoral nerve, whereas, peri set of fibres are supplied by the obturator nerve.
*Long head of biceps femoris c.  is supplied by the tibial part of sciatic nerve, and the short head is supplied by the common peroneal nerve. This reflects the composite derivation from the flexor extensor musculature.
Radial half of flexor digitorum profundus d.  is supplied by the median nerve and the ulnar half is supplied by the ulnar nerve.
