Rosettes are characteristically seen in | DNB Based MCQ

NIME Next Batch PGI Quest in Delhi from 10 August to 20 August

Rosettes are characteristically seen in

A. Retinoblastoma
B. Nephroblastoma
C. Hepatoblastoma
D. Pancreatoblastoma

Ans. A. (Retinoblastoma)
Explanation
• Retinoblastoma is the most common primary intraocular malignancy of children.
• The pathology of retinoblastoma of both hereditary and sporadic types is identical.
• Tumors may contain both undifferentiated and differentiated elements.
• The former appear as collections of small, round cells with hyperchromatic nuclei.

• In well-differentiated tumors there are Flexner-Wintersteiner rosettes and fleurettes reflecting photoreceptor differentiation. • It should be noted, however, that the degree of tumor differentiation does not appear to be associated with the prognosis.
